Lee's award-winning home in Evergreen, Colorado. | Bob
Lee has been a licensed architect for 38 years, practicing in California, Colorado,
and Illinois. He founded Lee Architects and Builders in 1999 to offer services
for the design and construction of high-end residences. He was instrumental in
the Community First
initiative in Naperville, Illinois and co-authored the book, "Workbook for
Successful Redevelopment," which resulted. The book and the movement challenges
builders and architects to consider a neighborhood's existing character when designing
homes there. The Naperville City Council, determined to control the spread of
incongruous residential architecture through zoning laws, has instead thrown its
support behind this movement. Other communities have asked Community First to
consult with them about this concept and have bought hundreds of the books. To view the Business Connections interview with Bob concerning Community First, click here.
The
book won a Citation of Honor award from The American Institute of Architects,
an award as "Best Special Community Initiative" from the Illinois Chapter
of the American Planning Association, and an award from The American Society of
Landscape Architects.
Bob's homes have been published in numerous magazines
and newspapers and he has won a "Merit Award" from the Colorado Society
of Architects for his home in Evergreen, Colorado. Bob is a current member of
the Naperville Building Review Board and a past member of the Naperville Historical
Sites Commission. The custom home that Bob designed and built at 651 Sunset Drive, Naperville was selected by a jury as one of the seven finalists for the 2004 Community Choice Award, the award presented for neighborhood compatible homes. |
